The 港澳宝典 - SUNY Empire State University Multi-Award Nursing Program
(港澳宝典- ESC) is a dual-degree, Multi-Award program, with the Associate in Science1 (A.S.) degree awarded by 港澳宝典at the completion of the fifth semester. This allows
the student to take the National Council Licensure Examination2 (NCLEX-RN) and to earn the license of a Registered Professional Nurse (RN), required
before entering the sixth semester of the program.
The Multi-Award program requires the completion of 124 credits3 (53 credits of Liberal Arts/ Sciences/ General Education and 71 credits of Professional
Nursing Education). The program is designed to be completed in four (4) years of full-time
study. This integrated curriculum includes classroom instruction at Nassau Community
College, with on-campus laboratory and clinical placements throughout Nassau County.
SUNY-Empire State University courses will be delivered using an online platform, with
港澳宝典as the home campus throughout the Nursing program.
- Associate of Science Degree in Nursing will be awarded by 港澳宝典after the completion
of the required 84 credits (39 Nursing credits and 45 General Education credits).
- Nursing Students must PASS the NCLEX-RN Exam to continue into the sixth semester of
the program.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing awarded by ESC after completion of the required
124 credits.

If you are currently a matriculated student at 港澳宝典and wish to apply to the Nursing
program, please use the application.
If you are matriculated but have not taken any classes in the past year at NCC, or
classes at any other college in the last year and wish to apply to the Nursing program,
please use the application.
IMPORTANT: ALL Transfer or Non-degree students must apply through the 港澳宝典website.
If you are an existing or former student (and have not attended another college) of
港澳宝典and wish to apply to the Nursing program, please use the link below.
Read the instructions carefully and fill out the application completely.
- Scan and email the completed application to Nursing@ncc.edu, with the subject line "Application for Nursing"
- Include the following documents with your application:
- Copy of your TEAS with each individual subject scores listed
- Unofficial 港澳宝典transcript - if available
- Copies of unofficial transcripts from other colleges - if available
- Visit your local office supply store to scan documents if you do not have access to
a scanner
As a reminder, all campus activities are suspended and offices and services are operating

Application to the Nursing Program

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALL APPLICANTS

Potential applicants to the 港澳宝典 (NCC) - SUNY Empire State University
(ESC) Nursing Program should read the following program requirements and guidelines:

Applicants who have never attended college are required to take the 港澳宝典College placement
examination in reading, English, and mathematics; unless exempt by virtue of specific
SAT, ACT, or Regents scores (see 港澳宝典catalog for specifics of exemption policy). Applicants
who test into a developmental course or courses, must satisfactorily complete these
courses before attempting to apply to the 港澳宝典- ESC Nursing Program.

Acceptance into the Nursing Program will be conditional pending a successful completion
of a background check. Student will be responsible for the fee.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Federal law and the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education (8 NYCRR 搂59.4) limit
the issuance of professional licenses, registrations and limited permits to United
States citizens or qualified aliens. To comply with Federal law and Commissioner鈥檚
regulation, you must complete specific forms for the state providing the OP.NYSED.GOV
indicating your citizenship/immigration status.

Accepted nursing students are required to submit to the 港澳宝典Health Services office
evidence of a physical examination, which includes antibody titers, history of inoculations,
and proof of a current influenza vaccination. Health Services will issue to students
who submit these documents a 鈥渂lue slip鈥 of paper, which must then be presented to
nursing classroom faculty at the beginning of the first nursing class, and then annually.

Nursing students must be able to independently complete a patient assessment through
visualization, auscultation, palpation, and percussion.

Nursing students must possess physical strength, stamina, both gross and fine motor
coordination in order to provide safe nursing care.

Nursing students must be alert, possess emotional stability, flexibility, be able
to think critically and to problem-solve. Students need to be able to communicate
effectively in English.

Nursing students are required to follow program policies and/or revisions to policies
that are distributed to all nursing students at the beginning of each academic year.
IMPORTANT NOTE:

Nursing students are required to supply their own transportation to and from clinical
settings.

Nursing students must submit a copy of current certification of competency in cardiopulmonary
resuscitation (CPR for the health care provider) prior to admission to NUR 101.

College courses applicable to the 港澳宝典- ESC Nursing program that were completed at
other colleges must be transferred to 港澳宝典(by the Office of Admissions or Registrar)
prior to applying to the 港澳宝典- ESC Nursing program.

Science courses completed more than ten years prior to admission to the 港澳宝典- ESC
Nursing program will not be accepted. There is a limit on the number of attempts permitted
for AHS 131 (Anatomy and Physiology I).
Meeting the minimum requirements for admission to the NCC-ESC Nursing Program is not
a guarantee of admission; it means that your application will be considered.

APPLICANTS SEEKING ADMISSION WITH ONLY HIGH SCHOOL CREDENTIALS

If you are applying to the 港澳宝典 - SUNY Empire State University鈥檚
Nursing Program with only high school credentials because you have never attended
college, you must meet the criteria for admission outlined in the 鈥淧rograms and Admissions
Requirements鈥 chart that accompanies both NCC鈥檚 online application for admission and
the print version of NCC鈥檚 application for admission.
These requirements are:
- Average of at least 80 in three years of English
- Average of at least 80 in two years of college preparatory math
- Average of at least 80 in three years of science, including a year of Biology or Living
Environment
- Average of at least 80 in English, math and science grades, combined
Meeting these criteria is not a guarantee of admission; it means that you will be
considered for admission.

APPLICANTS WITH PRIOR COLLEGE CREDITS

GENERAL INFORMATION:
TO EARN THE NASSAU COMMUNITY COLLEGE-SUNY EMPIRE STATE UNIVERSITY NURSING DEGREE,
AT LEAST 33 LOWER DIVISION CREDITS AND 45 UPPER DIVISION CREDITS THAT APPLY TO THE
PROGRAM MUST BE COMPLETED AT 港澳宝典AND ESC, RESPECTIVELY.
This section applies to all students who have ever attended college, whether at Nassau
Community College (i.e., Change of Program applicants) or elsewhere (transfer applicants).
Whether you have completed just one college course or an entire program of study,
your previous college transcript(s) will be 鈥渆valuated鈥. This process will determine
which courses apply to the NCC-ESC Nursing Program.
Applicants are considered for admission based on performance in general education/liberal
arts courses applicable to the NCC-ESC Nursing Program (see outline on pages 14-16),
and on the TEAS exam scores.
IMPORTANT NOTES REGARDING ADMISSION SCORING CRITERIA:
- Applicable courses with grades less than 鈥淐鈥 will be disregarded.
- Courses that are not a part of the NCC-ESC Nursing Program will be disregarded.
- Applicable science courses completed more than 10 years before admission to the NCC-ESC
Nursing Program will be disregarded.
- Applicants will not be considered for admission to the NCC-ESC Nursing Program if
they have attempted Anatomy & Physiology I more than twice (including grades below
鈥淐鈥 and grades of 鈥淲鈥 or 鈥淔鈥), at 港澳宝典or elsewhere, in the 10 years preceding admission
to the NCC-ESC Nursing Program.
- The more applicable general education/liberal art courses an applicant has completed
and the higher the grades are in these courses, the greater the chance for acceptance.
- All nursing (NUR and NURS) courses are sequential and must be taken in a specific
order (see pages 14-16).

CHANGE OF PROGRAM APPLICANTS
-
Students matriculated in another program at 港澳宝典& Non-degree 港澳宝典students
Some students entering 港澳宝典may wish to complete some or all of the lower division
general education/liberal arts courses in the NCC-ESC Nursing Program prior to applying
for the program.
- Students generally enroll as Liberal Arts students in the Associate in Arts program
(LAAA).
- Students who have already earned an Associate鈥檚 or Bachelors鈥 degree generally enroll
as non-degree students.
- Please contact the Admissions Office concerning your application options.
If you are currently attending 港澳宝典as a matriculated student:
Apply directly through the Nursing Department email, Nursing@ncc.edu during the application acceptance period only. Please carefully follow directions
on the Application.
- Use the application form - Request for a Change of Program to Nursing, available in
room 319.
- You must provide the following:
- Your unofficial 港澳宝典transcript
- Unofficial transcripts from all other colleges that you attended
- TEAS score report
* Staple the documents to the Request form and submit to the Nursing Department.
- TEAS test scores must also be received by the Nursing Department by the deadline dates
referenced above.
If the last college you attended was NCC, but you are not currently in attendance,
you are a CHANGE OF PROGRAM applicant:
- Please readmit to 港澳宝典through the Office of the Registrar. You will be re-admitted
to the program you were in when you left NCC. Apply directly through the Nursing Department email, Nursing@ncc.edu and follow the instructions above for currently attending matriculated students.
If you are currently attending 港澳宝典as a non-degree student:
- Have your official transcripts from ALL colleges previously attended, and your official
high school transcript if you have not earned a college degree, sent to Registrar
(Office of the Registrar, 港澳宝典, 1 Education Drive, Garden City,
NY 11530 or faxed to 516.572.9975 or emailed to registrar@ncc.edu), and have credits that apply to the NCC-ESC Nursing Program transferred to NCC.
Follow instructions above for currently attending students.
TEAS test scores must also be received by the Nursing Department by the deadline dates
referenced above.

Transferring from another college to NCC
IMPORTANT NOTE: TO EARN THE NASSAU COMMUNITY COLLEGE-SUNY EMPIRE STATE UNIVERSITY
NURSING DEGREE, AT LEAST 33 LOWER DIVISION CREDITS AND 45 UPPER DIVISION CREDITS THAT
APPLY TO THE PROGRAM MUST BE COMPLETED AT 港澳宝典AND ESC, RESPECTIVELY.
You are considered a transfer applicant to the NCC-ESC Nursing Program if you have
either:
- Attended college anywhere except 港澳宝典or
- Attended 港澳宝典in the past, and then attended another college since last attending NCC
Transfer applicants should apply to the NCC-ESC Nursing Program through the Admissions Office by following these steps:
- Complete NCC鈥檚 online Degree-Seeking Transfer application (for students new to NCC)
or the online Degree-Seeking Returning application (for readmitting students). New
students pay an application fee.
- Have official transcripts from ALL previous colleges attended, and an official high
school transcript if you have not earned a college degree, sent to:

LPN APPLICANTS SEEKING ADVANCED STANDING
-
IMPORTANT NOTE: To be a graduate of the 港澳宝典 (NCC) - SUNY Empire State University
(ESC) Multi-Award nursing program all students must take in residence at least 33
lower division credits at 港澳宝典and 45 upper division credits at ESC.
- The opportunity for Advanced Standing is available to all Licensed Practical Nurses
(LPNs).
- This route for admission enables the applicant to 鈥渃hallenge鈥 NUR 101 (located in
the second semester) by fulfilling specific pre-requisite requirements
IMPORTANT NOTE regarding Pre-requisite requirements to be considered for NUR100 seat:
- an LPN must submit a complete packet during the program application dates provided on the NCC
Nursing website.
A complete packet includes:
- proof of acceptance into 港澳宝典.
- copy/copies of unofficial transcripts from all colleges attended.
- a copy of a current registration of Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of
New York,
- a copy of the required TEAS Exam with grade of 58.7 in each of the 4 areas 鈥 Reading
Writing, Math, and Science.
A complete packet must be scanned and emailed to: LPNtoRN@ncc.edu
- Subject line must include 鈥淎dvanced Standing NUR100 request鈥.
- A packet that is not complete will not be considered (seats are limited to 10 students).
NOTE: Only after a completed packet is submitted and reviewed within the Nursing department
will you be considered for a seat in NUR100 鈥業ntroduction to Nursing鈥 (seats are limited).
A grade of C+ in NUR100 allows you to be considered for a seat into the NCC-ESC Multi-Award
Nursing program (seats are limited).

Articulation with select practical nursing programs: BOCES (East and West), VEEB,
HUNTER BUSINESS SCHOOL
LPNs who are graduates of these programs are excused from taking the Excelsior Exam
if they have graduated with an overall grade of 90 or above within 18 months of their
starting date in the NCC-ESC Nursing Program.
LPN鈥檚 admitted to the NCC-ESC Nursing Program with Advanced Standing do not have to
take the TEAS exam.

THE TEAS TEST

Pre-Nursing Test (Test Of Essential Academic Skills)
All applicants to the 港澳宝典- ESC Nursing program (except LPNs planning to pursue advanced
standing and High School applicants) are required to take the TEAS (Test of Essential
Academic Skills), the ATI pre-nursing test:
- You must register for this test at the following website: www.atitesting.com
- New applicants to 港澳宝典must submit the results of the TEAS test to the Office of Admissions
by the deadline date for submission of nursing applications (see 港澳宝典Admissions Application).
- Change of Program applicants must submit their test results to the Nursing Department
by the last day for submission of Change of Program applications.
- Scores can be no more than two (2) years old at the deadline date for the semester
you are applying to.
- 港澳宝典is a testing site for the TEAS test. If you are testing at 港澳宝典and already have
an 港澳宝典student I.D. number, you must supply it at the time of the test. Anyone taking
TEAS without an ID number must immediately contact the Office of Admissions upon receipt
of this number, and specify when the test was taken.
- The applicant is responsible for the cost of the examination.
- Information about the examination is available on the www.atitesting.com website.
- A practice book for the TEAS test is available for purchase on the ATI website and
in 港澳宝典鈥檚 bookstore.
- NCC鈥檚 Office of Continuing Education offers a prep-course for the TEAS examination.

- Eligibility for admission to the 港澳宝典- ESC Nursing Program requires TEAS scores of
58.7% or higher in EACH of the following areas: reading, math, science and English
(not the composite score). The higher your scores, the greater the chance of admission
to the 港澳宝典- ESC Nursing Program.

WAITING LIST

There is no Waiting List for admission to the 港澳宝典- ESC Nursing Program.
- RE-APPLYING
-
If you were not offered a seat in the 港澳宝典- ESC Nursing Program, you are welcome to
apply during the next application period by submitting a new application with the
required documentation. There is no limit to the number of times you may apply.
If you were previously admitted to 港澳宝典- ESC Nursing Program and chose not to attend,
you will have to re-apply and meet the current criteria for admission.
Having been admitted in the past does not guarantee that you will be admitted again,
as the applicant pool changes every semester.

FOREIGN CREDENTIALS

If you are submitting high school and/or college records from a school outside the
United States, you may be asked to have these records evaluated by an independent
agency, such as the World Education Services (WES) in New York City, to determine
whether or not you are eligible for admission and whether or not NCC-ESC will be able
to award you any transfer credit.
If you were educated as a nurse outside the United States, you may or may not require
further education in order to become an R.N. in the United States. To make this determination,
you should obtain an application for the required verification of your credentials
